Cedar Rapids lies on the eastern side of the state of Iowa on the Cedar River, and is the state's second largest city with a population of ~125K. Our city is home to 300 different manufacturing plants and two dozen Fortune 500 companies, including Rockwell Collins, AEGON, General Mills, Cargill, Penford, and Quaker Oats (source: City of Cedar Rapids).
Beyond business and manufacturing, we anchor Iowa's Creative Corridor and support Theatre Cedar Rapids,Orchestra Iowa, the Titans indoor football team, the Kernels baseball team, and numerous museums. Not only that, but Cedar Rapids is situated within weekend-getaway distance of Minneapolis, Chicago, St. Louis, and Kansas City.
Cedar Rapids is part of the Iowa affiliate of the Interfaith Alliance which sponsors ongoing events to educate the community about our different religious viewpoints. These events include annual Thanksgiving prayer services in which Peoples Church has participated. We also enjoy access to top-notch healthcare from our two local hospitals, Mercy Cedar Rapids and UnityPoint Health Cedar Rapids, their affiliated offices, and tertiary care nearby at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Iowa consistently ranks highly at all levels of education, and two of Iowa's top-ranked high schools are located in Cedar Rapids. In higher education, Coe College, Mount Mercy University, and Kirkwood Community College are all located within city limits, and Cedar Rapids is a mere 30-45 minute drive from two of Iowa's three public universities.
