We host social activities throughout the year so newcomers and long-time congregants alike can grow our fellowship by spending time with great people. Watch for specific meeting information for these groups and others in the Peoples Voice monthly newsletter and the eWeekly updates.
Van Vechten Guild
Named for Ada Van Vechten, the Guild has been a gathering place for Peoples Church women since 1912! The Guild meets at noon on the second Monday of the month from September through May (except January) for lunch, conversation, and a topical speaker. Attendees bring a sack lunch and members take turns providing wonderful desserts. New members are always welcome. The membership fee is $5 annually.
First Wednesday Book Group
Readers meet to discuss a new book at 7:00 PM on the first Wednesday of the month. Meetings are usually held at the down town branch of the Cedar Rapids Public Library in the 2nd floor Unconference Room.
You needn't be a member of the American Contract Bridge League to play with this group; the emphasis is on fun and all levels of players are encouraged to participate. The group meets approximately monthly on Friday evenings.
Other social events take place throughout the year, such as Movie Nights, Small Dinners, Cook's Night Out, Service Auction, Sisterhood Dinner, Special Lecture series, Peoples Reads, etc. Watch the Voice and eWeekly for information on these and more.
