Come continue our year-long exploration of racism and white supremacy on August 26 and September 16 with We Were Eight Years in Power by Ta-Nehisi Coates.
On 08/26 we will talk about the first four essays in his book: “This Is How We Lost to the White Man,” “American Girl,” “Why Do So Few Blacks Study the Civil War,” and “The Legacy of Malcolm X.”
On 09/16 we will discuss the last four essays: “Fear of a Black President,” “The Case For Reparations,” “The Black Family In The Age of Mass Incarceration,” and “My President Was Black.”
The Cedar Rapids Public Library has four copies of We Were Eight Years in Power and it can be borrowed from the library electronically. Or, you can go online and Google the name of the article and author and read the essays individually.
