Wise Words, March 2020

Keep on casting
Your bread upon the water
Soon it’s gonna come back home on every wave
Keep on casting
Your bread upon the water
Soon it’s gonna come back home on every wave
Good measure pressed down
Shaken together running over
Soon it’s gonna come back home on every wave

This chorus from a song written by Janny and Bill Grein and sung by the Imperials in the late 70’s was one of my favorites! It is so incredibly simple and so very powerful. What we do is going to back to us.

As I think about Faith Formation and Peoples the message from this song is still powerful and important. We want the kids in the Faith Formation to learn the Principles, the Sources, and all of the positive things Peoples and Unitarian Universalism have to offer to this now as children and when they become adults.

The Faith Formation program is not just the Director of the program. It is not just the parents of the kids in the program. It truly needs to involve a good cross section of adults from the congregation. The children in the program need to see that the congregation cares for and loves them. They need to see members of the congregation giving of their time to help teach classes and lead programs.

As we begin planning for 2020-2021 Faith Formation classes I will be asking members of Peoples to step up and help. Will you be willing to cast some bread on the water?

Will you shake things up? Will you see the good you do coming back on every wave?

ADULT OWL TRAINING

We will be hosting an adult Our Whole Lives training session for facilitators from across the region on July 31-August 2 and some participants might be looking for home hospitality. Home hospitality would basically offer participants a place to sleep and a bathroom. Participants will spend the majority of the weekend on site in training, and all meals will be provided at the event. Let David know if you might want to participate in the training and/or offer your home. The training will be

  • Friday @ 5 PM – 10 PM
  • Saturday @ 8 AM – 10 PM
  • Sunday @ 8 AM – 3 PM
