For this quarter, Peoples Church will be donating our 2nd Sunday Plate Collection to Iowa Environmental Council.

  • The Iowa Environmental Council (IEC), founded in 1995 and headquartered in Des Moines, is a non‑partisan, 501(c)(3) coalition comprising over 100 member organizations committed to protecting and preserving Iowa’s natural environment. As the state’s largest environmental alliance, IEC advocates for clean water, clean energy, climate resiliency, land stewardship, and environmental justice across federal, state, and local policy arenas.
  • IEC’s work is driven by a core belief in science‑based, inclusive, and equity‑focused advocacy. It has been instrumental in pushing for water quality protections, promoting a transition to 100% clean energy by 2035 through wind and solar, and challenging pollution from coal, industrial agriculture, and pesticide exposure. The organization combines public education, coalition‑building, legal action, and policy lobbying, supported by a staff of around 15 and a 15‑member board, to drive systemic change anthropocenealliance.org. Their mission is clear: ensure a just, healthy environment and sustainable future for all Iowans.
