Title: Coordinator of Lifespan Faith Formation (CLFF)

Hours and schedule: 10 – 12 hours/week
9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., most Sundays during the program year

Some hours may be worked remotely

Purpose of Position
- Foster a vibrant, inclusive culture of lifelong learning within the congregation. In collaboration with congregational leaders, design, and implement multigenerational programs by integrating faith formation into congregational life; helping people of all ages grow, connect, and live their Unitarian Universalist values.

Essential Functions
- Collaboratively selects, plans, and supports Sunday morning activity options for the congregation in the hour before Sunday worship services (9:45-10:45 AM).
- Collaborates with various groups (eg., Faith Formation Council, Social Justice Team, Music Ministry Team, Building & Grounds, Archives, CUUPs, Membership Team, Worship Arts, etc.) to plan, administer, implement, and evaluate a multifaceted Faith Formation program for the congregation as a whole.
- Consults with all teams on ways to include all ages in their work and activities, encouraging each team to create / host at least one activity per year that involves the entire congregation.
- Communicates effectively with the congregation-at-large via various modes and in various locations, writing blog posts and designing flyers.
- Recruits, trains, schedules, and supports 1-2 Sunday morning volunteers.
- Serves as liaison to the Cedar Rapids Youth Co-op, communicating events to youth in the congregation and arranging adult volunteers when youth plan to attend Youth Co-op events.
- Works with congregational teams to brainstorm, support, and encourage 2–3 multigenerational community-facing events annually that invite participation from people outside the congregation, such as neighborhood celebrations, service projects, educational events, or seasonal gatherings.
- Coordinates and presents the Time For All Ages during Sunday Services in collaboration with the minister and other worship leaders.
- Manages and monitors the Faith Formation budget with supporting documentation.
- Maintains attendance records, curricular resources, classroom supplies, and equipment.
Qualifications
Qualifications may be met as a result of education, professional experience, volunteer work, informal training, and/or equivalent lived experiences.
- Familiarity with educational methods; learning styles; children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development; and age-appropriate activities.
- Experience with developing and supporting educational programs for young people.
- Experience with leading and engaging multigenerational groups in shared activities.
- Knowledge of Unitarian Universalism, or a desire to learn.
- Experience with supporting relationships within multigenerational groups, nurturing spiritual development and growth across the ages.
- Ability to operate a windows computer and a variety of software applications, including Google suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, & Forms). Experience with SquareSpace, Realm, Canva and/or MailChimp are useful, but not required.
- Ability to create and uphold appropriate boundaries.
Position Details
- The starting hourly wage is $18.00 – $20.00, depending on experience, plus professional development funds of $500 (5% of salary).
- The Coordinator of Lifespan Faith Formation may take an average of one Sunday off per month, as coordinated with the Minister.
- Professional attire is expected for church services.
