Purpose of Position

The Accompanist supports our music ministry by providing piano accompaniment for Sunday morning services (11:00 a.m.) throughout the year and the Peoples Church Choir rehearsals on most Wednesday evenings from August through May.

Essential Functions

  • Provide piano accompaniment for congregational singing, the Peoples Church Choir, and for special guest musicians, as needed.
  • Provide accompaniment for the Peoples Church Choir, during weekly Wednesday evening rehearsals and monthly Sunday morning worship service.
  • Work with the volunteer Choir Director(s) to lead the choir in vocal warmups.

Qualifications: Qualifications may be met as a result of education, professional experience, volunteer work, informal training, and/or equivalent lived experiences.

  • Previous accompanying experience
  • Consistent availability
  • Music degree preferred but not required

Position Details

  • The starting monthly wage when accompanying both congregational singing and the choir is $710 – $780, depending on experience.
  • The accompanist may take off one Sunday off per quarter, as coordinated with the Minister, which will impact the compensation.
  • Additional leave may be taken by mutual agreement.
  • The accompanist may play at weddings and memorial services by mutual agreement with the minister for an additional fee.
  • Professional attire is expected for church services.
